Day 30 - Lost Maples State Park to Kerrville

Andrew made breakfast this morning. Pretty good, it's nice to have him around.

Last climb of the trip today. Right away, no time to warm up. Doesn't seem possible that there are no more climbs, we're only half way to Florida, we'll see. Nice riding today, seems we've left the headwinds behind. Very nice riding today along the Guadalupe River. Lots of Ranches and vacation resorts.

Lunch picnic at the side of the river. Snacks in Hunt. Found a Dr. Pepper made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup. Very tasty, not as sweet. Good match with the onion rings.

Andrew and I finished the ride with beer in the motel parking lot then we all went to Billy Genes for chicken fried steak. Very disappointing, still looking for good chicken fry. I'm starting to worry that we'll never find it.

  1. I grew up in Texas and remember Stuckey's had good chicken fried steak. That and their famous pe-can logs.

I can't believe you won't have any more climbs! ! Tom's on the 400K today and he has lots o' climbs!

    Enjoy the flat. :)

  2. Steve, sounds as though you are having a great time. The photos of your mexican food and bar-b-q are driving me crazy. Sent your blog address to family members yesterday who didn´t already have it. Also sent it to my friend in Texas to give to her son who is also a bike rider -- though obviously not as advanced as you all are. Have you heard from your friend who had the back surgery.

    Love, Mom
